Emma Kate goes to Pre-K...Beaver Style

Well it's official, as of Aug. 19th 2009, Emma became a Glen Rose Beaver! Who knows if that's where she will spend the rest of her school days, but for now...she's a beaver. I know for some, this is like a knife to the heart....afterall, momma went to Magnet Cove, aka "the rival!" It's okay though, because daddy was a "beaver" and thinks it's pretty special that his baby girl is going to the same school, in the very same building, that he went to when he was a little boy! It's funny because after all these years, there's a couple teachers that are still there that remembered Clint and his brothers...BY NAME! CRAZY!

Anyway, Emma did great her first day and was so excited to go to her new school. As expected, she made friends instantly! We are now 2.5 weeks into school and she has already been named "Miss social" by her teachers...wonder who she gets that from? LOL So far, she's been a great "student" and has brought home smiley faces on her behavior chart every day...this makes mom and dad proud! I had to compliment the teachers on what a great job they are doing making learning fun....Emma has been asked several times now what she learned at school and her reply EVERY time is "We don't do that at school, we just eat, play, sing songs and stuff like that" LOL Silly girl! We hope she continues to have fun and enjoy school!

It's so hard to believe my little miracle man is TWO...where has the time gone? This year we celebrated with an "Anchors Away" nautical themed party...he chose the theme of course! LOL We had it at our church in the kids area where they could play on the indoor slides...FUN! Although, they seemed to be more interested in playing with the beach balls purchased from the dollar store...go figure! The cupcakes were made by Sam's and I added the nautical cupcake pics...too cute and SOOOO yummy! Eventhough there were SEVERAL friends that were unable to come (you were missed!), we had a great time! Thanks to everyone for making Grant's 2nd birthday so special!

I know, I know....I haven't posted in WEEKS, but for a good reason! The photography business is picking up and I have been one busy girl...and I wouldn't have it any other way!

On to the good stuff...A few weeks ago Emma went to her first "all girls" party for her friend Halle. It was at Pinkabella in the mall and the girls just LOVED it. Halle chose a princess theme, so each girl got to dress up like their favorite princess. They all got the royal treatment with make-up, hair do's, painted nails and even had a princess parade through the mall for all to see...TOO CUTE! I offered to take pictures so mom could sit back and watch all the fun! Thanks for inviting us and allowing us to share your special day with you Halle!

It's definately summer and the kids' social calendar is filling up quickly! This past weekend, we attended our second party of the summer to celebrate Kate's 1st birthday! This watermelon themed party was absolutely PRECIOUS...I just don't think it get's much cuter! Kate wasn't really sure what was going on, but she got all kinds of attention and that's all that matters...right!?!? Thanks for letting us be part of your special day Kate...we love you little girl!

A couple weekends ago, the kids and I went with my mom on a mini-vacay to Branson. We love Branson and always have a wonderful time...this time was a little challenging since Grant is older and not real fond of riding in the stroller for long periods of time, but a girls gotta shop! I think the highlight of the trip for Emma was staying in a hotel! Ha! She still talks about the place we went to with two beds!LOL We took the kids to a fun play area with rides and they both enjoyed that. We saw 2 shows...one being Tony Roi who does a FABULOUS tribute to Elvis! We see him almost everytime b/c he is such a great performer! Before we knew it, the weekend was over and it was time to head back home. Thanks for hanging out with us NaNa...you're the best!

is FINALLY over! Emma had her first T-ball game last night! She saw her cousin Hayley play softball last summer and that was IT...she wanted to play too! I told her that after she turned 4 she could play t-ball and since then she has been telling everyone "When I get bigger, i'm gonna play t-ball!" If you are friends or family, you have heard this repeatedly for a solid YEAR! LOL I must say...it was the cutest thing I've ever seen and they all actually played quite well!! We have been practicing 2 days a week for a month now and most of them have the concept down! Of course, my family took up a nice portion of the "cheering section" and Emma loved having everyone there to support her! You would think she was playing on the US Olympics team the way they were all yelling and cheering her on! LOL

Talk about a mess!! We pretty much went straight to the bath after this dinner, but I must say he enjoyed it! This was the first time he had eaten ravioli's with sauce and he was going to town..loved them! Of course, I had to grab the camera and get a few pictures of this wonderful mess! Emma was yelling and informed me that Grant had "grabioli's"(funny girl..that's what she calls ravioli) everywhere...and that he did!

There just isn't anything much cuter than hearing Emma and Grant SHOUT "DADDY" the second they hear the door open. Emma is running as fast and she can and Grant is right behind her crawling as fast as his legs will let him to get to Clint. From the moment he gets home, they want his full attention and he loves every second of it! This is what it looks like in our house most evenings...we wouldn't have it any other way!

I can't believe Grant is 18 months already....it's CRAZY!! He is getting so big and has such a cute personality! He can say about 10 words and is SOOOOO close to walking. He cruises around anything he can hold on to, but is still a little hesitant to let go...i don't think it will be to much longer though!!! I love this little guy SOOO much and feel so blessed that Clint and I were given the chance to be his parents. I still refer to him as my "miracle man" quite often because that is truly what he is!!!!!!!

Last night Clint and I attended a marriage seminar at our church called "Dare To Love" that was given by my pastor and his wife. I almost didn't recognize the Worship Center because they had taken out all the chairs and put in round tables covered with white tablecloths and beautiful centerpieces...it was a very romantic setting perfect for the occassion! We had a WONDERFUL time and learned some valuable information that is helpful to any marriage. The pastor and his wife shared a few personal stories from their almost 36 years of marriage and there was quite a bit of laughter in the room! At the completion of the seminar, they offered for all couples interested, to take a moment to renew their vows...it was VERY laid back and we just did it at our tables where we were sitting!! I'm glad Clint and I took part in such a neat experience!!

Emma is no stranger to the camera...she has had one on her since the second she was born!LOL She actually loves to show off for the camera and just does what comes natural to her whether it be a pose, silly face or just a blank stare. I have been doing a lot of "playing" with my new camera and trying to get familiar with all the different settings, so when I asked her if we could do a photo shoot the other day so mommy could get some "practice" she was all for it...thanks for being such a good model sissy!

This year Valentine's Day was very low key...Clint worked all day and since the holiday fell on a weekend, we opted not to fight the crowds! Instead, Emma and I spent the afternoon preparing a very special candlelight dinner for 4! lol She enjoyed it so much and loved that it was a surprise for daddy since we didn't tell him we were doing this. We had a very nice dinner complete with heart shaped cakes for dessert...chocolate with cream cheese frosting YUMMY! I tried to make the evening special for all of us and think it was a success. Emma told me "Mom, this is fancy!"...she was so excited that she got to drink out of a "fancy cup" as she called it! My mom has offered to watch the kids another evening so Clint and I can have a date night and we will definately take her up on that soon, but this was another day of special memories to add to list!

I had Bunko last night, so I cooked spaghetti and green beans for Clint and the kids for dinner before I left. It usually frustrates Grant to eat spaghetti because he can't get a good grip on the noodles, but he's done pretty good the past couple of times so I told Clint I thought he would be just fine eating that. WELL...not only did he thoroughly enjoy eating it, but apparently he likes to wear it too! LOL Clint took this picture for me and I thought it was hillarious! I remember Emma having a few messy feedings, but NEVER like this! Clint gave him a bath and he was fresh and clean when I got home, but when I got him up this morning I was looking at his face and noticed a little sauce in his nose...guess he was saving that for later! LOL

We enjoyed most of the weekend OUTDOORS for a change and it was so nice! I am SOO over Winter and ready for some beautiful Spring weather! Emma is a lucky little girl...our neighbors just love her and the kids (who are several years older) play so well with her! Last summer, they gave Emma the pink camo 4-wheeler that her friend Tori had outgrown and on Saturday I walked outside and saw a trampoline in my back yard!! Our neighbor told Clint to come help him move it and it was OURS! I offered to pay them something and they just refused and said they wanted Emma to have it because they knew how much she enjoyed playing on the "jumpaline" as she calls it. Now we just have to get a safety net to go around it. When Emma went to bed that night she said "Mommy, I just love my jumpaline..Mr. Tim is so nice". Tori and Cole came down Sunday afternoon and played with Emma and they had a BLAST! Grant got a little taste of the beautiful day too and loved his first time in the swing! He was a little scared at first (I remember Emma being the same way), but that was short-lived and he turned in to a giggle box! LOL I look forward to Winter being long gone so I can enjoy more beautiful days outdoors with the kids!

Emma was in the Sweetheart Pageant yesterday and had a BLAST!! This is the first one she's been in since she was 1 and had to go out on stage by herself...I wasn't sure how she would do, but we couldn't have been prouder! She walked right out there and was smiling and waving at everyone (she didn't neccessarily stand where she was supposed to..lol)and did great! She received 3 awards...Prettiest Eyes, Best Personality and First Runner-Up...of course she thinks she won b/c of all the trophies and I wasn't about to tell her any different! LOL When she was backstage, she was telling all the little girls how pretty they were and how she liked each of their dresses...all of the mom's were commenting on how sweet she was and if there was a Miss Congeniality award she would definately win! Talk about a mother's heart just BURSTING with pride...that's a winner in this momma's eyes anytime!!! Emma was so happy to look out in the crowd and see all her family and Aunt Meredith cheering her on...her face was beaming! I would say it was a good day for our family...Emma's little cousin Maeson won the Little Mister division and her older cousin Hayley won the Petite Miss division! YAY!!! Emma is already asking when she can be a "princess" again...maybe we will give the Brickfest Pageant a shot this summer since she is finally old enough...

I've said it 100 times and I'm sure I will say it 1000 more...I can't believe Emma is FOUR!! It seems like not long ago we were bringing our precious baby girl home from the hospital and now she is a sweet, prissy, drama queen, beautiful FOUR year old!! CRAZY!! Anyway...she had a wonderful 4th birthday and still tells me everyday "I loved my party mom, it was so much fun" and that just makes all the planning and stress SOOO worth it!! With the exception of a few friends (we missed you!) all of Emma's closest friends and family were there for the "Denim & Diamonds" cowgirl celebration...this was HER choice of party! She was trying to decide between a cowgirl party and Cinderella and of course chose cowgirl! As always, Emma received so many nice gifts and it has been like Christmas all over again in our house this week! It was a great time..thank you to all our friends and family who came!!! It wouldn't have been the same without you there!

Emma Kate,

I still can't believe you are FOUR today!! The time has passed so quickly and you have grown up SOOO fast! I'm not sure exactly why, but mommy is having such a hard time with this birthday...I think it's because I know so many new things are going to happen for you this year! In just a few short months you will be playing your first game of T-Ball, which you have been talking about for over a year now! LOL In August you will be starting Pre-K and going to school 5 days a week just like a big girl! WOW I'm sure that will be quite an adjustment for you and me both since we have spent almost every day together since you were born!! Speaking of...I am SOOO very thankful I have had this time with you! I know you don't realize it yet and just think it's normal for all mommies to be at home, but you have been very fortunate!!! You have been my sidekick since the day they put you in my arms...we have done lots of fun things together these past 4 years and I cherish every one of them! You love mom very much, but you are definately a DADDY'S GIRL!! From the second he gets home from work until the second you go to bed, you are stuck to him like glue and he LOVES it!! You have been the BEST big sister there could ever be...Grant loves you so much and I know you will grow up to be the best of friends!!

On New Year's Day we joined my cousin and her kids on a trip to Chuck E. Cheese's. Emma had never been before and couldn't wait to see what this place was all about! One thing she knew and informed me of was that it was "the place where a kid can be a kid!"...guess she got that from the commercials. Ha! She had a blast and even showed her brother how to play a few games. On the way home (before she crashed!) she told me "It was a great day" and her favorite thing was the "picture taker". We had a great time and enjoyed spending the day with family!

A couple weekends ago, Emma went to "deer camp" with her daddy and T-pa (grandpa)to bring their camper's home. She was so excited when Clint asked is she would like to go..she said "Oh I would love to daddy, it's going to be great!" Too cute! She had to wear her new rain boots because she wanted to wear boots "just like daddy". I tell everyone that Emma is the perfect combination...she is definately a "girly girl" and loves to play dress up, be a princess, and be a drama queen-lol, but she will not hesitate at the chance to ride "the wheeler", dig in the dirt, or try to climb a tree! LOL I sent the camera with them for blogging purposes...the following pics are what they came back with. I would have liked more, but these will have to do! LOL

My 2 little Elves and I finally got the tree up last weekend! I had a couple extra helper's this year which made things very comical. Emma is SOOO excited about Christmas this year and wants to be involved in every part of it! It literally takes me about 2 hours to "fluff" the branches and get it just right...i'm very picky about this part! So I did most of that while Emma and Grant were taking a nap. Of course, when she woke up she had to help me finish and daddy held her up to put the top piece on the tree..she said "I did a great job didn't I?" Grant was also very involved in the decorating process...he helped "unload" the decorations and scatter them everywhere for me! LOL He was in complete amazement when we plugged the lights in and decided he would tangle them up for me. At one point, he decided to start banging some ornaments on the floor and mean mommy said "No sir"...his pitiful face in the picture tells exactly how he felt about that! LOL Although I was sick and not feeling very chipper, I enjoyed sharing this experience with the kids and seeing their little faces light up when we finally finished! Emma plugs in the lights first thing every morning and always says "WOW...this sure is a gorgeous tree"..gotta lover her!

Girls Night Out

A couple weekends ago (i know..this is late!) 2 very special friends of mine, Jill and Meredith, and I went out to celebrate my birthday. We went to Hot Springs and went by the Convention Center to check out a Christmas sale called Tinsel & Traditions. We saw a lot of neat boutique items that we all loved, checked out thoroughly and decided we could probably make them on our own for half the price! LOL Then we headed over to Outback Steakhouse where we ran into half the town of Magnet Cove! LOL Actually it was parents of people we went to school with. We had a yummy meal and it was so nice to talk and laugh without any interruptions from the kiddos! Towards the end of our meal, the waiter decided to serenade me with his "boy band" version of Happy Birthday! I think the look on my face in the picture says it all! LOL After that bit of excitement, we headed over to T.J. Maxx. I was on the hunt for a good pair of boots, but couldn't find any I liked. I'm still searching..... Thanks girls for such a fun night (we missed ya Lindsey!), I can't wait until the next outing!

Oh how I LOVE this girl!!! She is so much fun right now...dressing up, baby dolls, fabulous art work, the funny way she interprets things, the best big sister ever...i could go on, but I think you get the picture! She is such a girly girl, but LOVES to go outside with daddy in her camo overalls and ride the 4-wheeler, dig in the dirt and pretty much what daddy does, she's going to do too! She is getting so big and to be honest...it breaks my heart somedays! To think that she's almost FOUR already...my BABY will be starting T-Ball in the spring (many of you have been hearing about her playing T-Ball for about a year now..LOL)and will be starting Pre-K next August!!! How has this much time passed so quickly? I am so grateful that I have been able to stay at home and enjoy every second of the past 4 years with her..what a blessing!!! As I read this post, I realized that I might be having an "emotional day" today...but I guess we are entitled to those every once in a while, right?!

Grant is ALL OVER the place and into EVERYTHING since learning to crawl! I have to watch this kid 24/7 because he is always trying to sneak around and get into things. Well, Monday he was on a mission to wake his sister up from her nap! He kept squealing to the top of his lungs and the fact that I kept saying "SHHHHH, be quiet Grant" didn't even phase him! Then he took off down the hall to her room and kept pushing on the door trying to open it..it really irritated him that the door wasn't opening so he started squealing AGAIN and even louder than before! LOL I brought him back to the living room and he turned right back around and headed towards the room again...by then I GAVE UP! Who am I to stop this little guy that wants so badly to play with his sister??!! I think the pictures explain the rest......

The last year to enjoy life in my 20's!!! LOL Yesterday I celebrated my 29th birthday...it's so hard for me to believe that I will be 30 next year!! I don't think it's a bad thing...just hard to absorb! I had a great day and went to dinner last night with my parents, brother and in-laws. I received some very nice gifts...but I have to say that I about flipped out when I opened my brothers gift! He got me a gift certificate for a 1 hour massage at the health club where he works...I have always wanted one and will be scheduling that appointment VERY SOON! Thanks to my family for a wonderful birthday!

Our 5th Annual Fall Bash

WOW...it's hard to believe that it has already been 5 years since we started this Fall tradition! It is such a huge event and takes a lot of planning, but it's something I look forward to every year! There were a few families that weren't able to attend this year and we still had about 70 people at my house last weekend! I wasn't able to get a lot of pics of the activities because I was too busy taking everyone's family pictures, which I love! We had Bingo, Pumpkin Toss, Pumpkin walk, face painting and everyones FAVE..the hayride!. What Fall party would be complete without CHILI?...we had about 6 different kinds to appeal to everyone's taste, along with Fritos, hot dogs, yummy desserts and hot chocolate! It took me about 2 days to recoupe from the event, but it was SOOOO worth it! I am so grateful to have such an amazing family and wonderful friends to share this tradition with!

There was a Princess and a Frog Prince who were the cutest in the world...at least their mommy thinks so! I was trying to decide on the kids costumes this year and Emma kept saying she wanted to be a "beautiful princess"...so when I came across the Frog Prince costume, I had to have it!! So cute!

Halloween night we met up with several of Emma's cousins and went TOT'ing in downtown Malvern. All the businesses on Main Street pass out candy and it's quite a site to see all kids in their costumes! This is the 3rd year we have done this and the kids seem to really enjoy it!

Emma could not wait for her Halloween party at school...she asked me about it EVERYDAY for a week! She found it quite amusing to see one of her teachers dressed as Cat in the Hat when we walked in and was happy to see all the yummy treats on the counter. They danced, had juice and cupcakes and all got to take SEVERAL treat bags home. When I picked her up that afternoon, she said "Mom, this was a great day!"

Fall Festival Fun

Last Wed. night we went to our church for the Fall Festival....let me just say that Emma was in heaven!! When we walked in her eyes got really big and she was just looking at all the fun stuff to do. The gym was packed with tons of kids in costume running around and it was complete chaos...at least the kids had fun! Emma played a variety of games, but I think her favorite thing was getting her face painted. She chose a caterpillar and refused to let me wash it off her face until the next evening and was still upset with me then. Grant had no clue what was going on but he liked looking at all the costumes. My princess and frog prince had a fun night and both crashed on the way home!

I must admit, there are MANY days I get wrapped up in "what needs to be done", "where am I going today" and of course "computer time" that I forget to notice the little things. Things like how absolutely sweet it is watching Emma and Grant play together. She is such a great big sister and doesn't seem to mind that Grant wants to come in her room and check things out. I do get an occassional "MOM...he's getting all my books out of my new shelf" or "He's pulling my baby dolls hair" but as long as I assure her that he's just curious....she's fine. I have walked through the living room several times, only to find that Emma has put Grant in her bean bag chair and sits next to him while they watch T.V....how cute it that?!?! Now, I am pretty sure it won't always be this way and I will be playing referee(sp?) before long....but for now i'm just going to enjoy these times.

On another note....It appears that i'm not the only one who loves to see the kids in matching outfits!! Everyday Emma requests that she and Grant match! LOL I explained to her that we can't match EVERYDAY and that's just for special times. However, I did find these pajamas that were so cute. Grant's have monkeys on them and Emma's have elephants. Of course....she wants them to wear them every night! Silly girl!

Saturday the kids and I along with my mom, mother-in-law, my brother and cousin Vanessa and her 3 boys all took a trip to the Garner Family Homestead Pumpkin Patch. We had a great time and there was lots of activities for the kiddos including tire swings, a hayride and an animal show complete with a dancing chicken and rabbit that played the piano! LOL Sooo cute! Of course we picked out the perfect pumpkin to display on the porch and hope to do some carving on it later this week. Grant had no clue what was going on, but loved being pushed around in his stroller and watching the kids!

Wednesday the kids and I met my mom (NaNa) at the park for lunch since it was such a beautiful day. Getting Emma to eat when there was a playground full of adventure only steps away was useless, UNTIL NaNa showed up with cupcakes with sprinkles on top!! Emma decided she might come back and eat afterall and I can't say I blame her...they were so yummy! Grant had his first experience in a swing and LOVED it! At one point, he was laying back in the swing just chillin' and enjoying life and then it stopped. He let us know real quick that the ride had come to an end and he wasn't too happy about it! LOL Emma of course made a few friends and was running around like a wild Indian the whole time. Thanks for meeting us at the park NaNa...i'm sure there will be many more "park days" ahead since the weather is absolutely beautiful right now!!

A couple weeks ago Clint and I took the kiddos to the zoo and had a great time. It was much better this go around than it was back in July when it was 100 degrees and we were all panting like animals ourselves! LOL Grant was quite observant and smiled at every little animal he saw...especially the big giraffes! Emma's favorite, as always, were the birds.....she kept saying "Come on, I want to go see the Macaws". It was so cute and sounded so grown up at the same time! All in all, the day was fun and we were so glad daddy FINALLY got a day off and was able to join us! Of course, I was taking pictures and was left out once again....oh well!

FYI...promise we are not still making the child wear "the harness"...she actually requested it after seing it when we were getting the stroller out! Guess she thought it was suitable since we were at the zoo! LOL

Since everything around me is looking so warm and cozy for fall (which I LOVE), I decided the Blog needed some special treatment too! I'm still in search for a better background but this will do for now. I absolutely LOVE Fall and everything that comes with it...cool air, college football, pumpkin spice candles, beautiful scenery, a trip to Branson, MO (usually..I am DYING to go right now!) and our Annual Wright Fall Bash (I THINK this will be our 5th year!).

Yesterday was a another BIG day in our house....Grant started crawling!!! I have been working with him for about 15 minutes each day to encourage him to crawl and he finally took off yesterday all on his own! I am not a superstitious person, but I think it is quite amazing that he wore his "I am a MIRACLE" shirt (my friend Brittany sent this to me when he was born..it was HUGE until now) yesterday for the first time AND i'm supposed to be getting a call today to set up Physical Therap b/c he wasn't crawling yet....and all of the sudden he crawls yesterday!! I knew he would be delayed due to being a preemie, but I admit I was a little worried that he still wasn't crawling at 13 months! Thank you AGAIN God for listening and answering my prayers!!! I am working on loading a short video clip, but for some reason it won't download...i'll keep trying!! In the meantime, here's a couple pics of my big boy..he was so proud of himself!

Part of the reason I have been away from the blogging world (posting anyway) for the past couple of weeks is b/c I was getting things ready for a HUGE consignment sale called DUCK DUCK GOOSE that was held in Little Rock last weekend. I saved ALL of Emma's clothes, not knowing if our next child would be another girl or a boy, and I had Rubbermaid totes of clothes EVERYWHERE that were in the way! I had planned on consigning last Fall, but then little man decided to show up early, so that didn't happen. Anyway....It was a NIGHTMARE trying to sort through everything and pick only 75 items (that's the limit) out of all those clothes, so my mom came to help! My living room looked like a bomb had went off for several days, but it was SOOOOO worth it and consignors got to shop a day early!! I ended up making $430.00!!!! SCORE!!! Of course some of that is going back into the clothing fund so I can buy them more clothes! :) They are holding another DDG Sale next week...it will be the first for Hot Springs and is being held at my church. I still have a bunch of Fall/Winter clothing so i'm participating in this one too....why not, right?? Might as well try to make some more $$$ instead of it taking up space in the house!

WARNING This is not for the weak stomach people to read!! LOL

Well yesterday was another interesting day around the Wright house! LOL Grant now has 4 teeth and 2 more are working their way through, so needless to say, he is putting EVERYTHING in his mouth!!! I put him down for his usual afternoon nap yesterday and could here him in there playing, then he started fussing. This went on for about 10 min, so I finally went in there to settle him down and try to get him to sleep.....THEN I smelt this strange (but familiar) smell and figured out what the fussing was all about!!! My son was chewing on a MILLIPEDE!!! YUCK!!!!

We have been having some issues with these millipedes coming into the house for about a month now (apparently they become more abundant when it's very wet or very dry...we have had our fair share of rain and flooding!!) I quickly scooped it out of his mouth and decided to call poison control just to be on the safe side...it's not like I know much about these lovely creatures!! LOL They said they weren't poisonous (THANK GOD!), but they do release something that could cause a skin reaction and that I needed to watch him and make sure he didn't develop any blisters around his mouth! Everything was fine and my little man was snoozing away 15 minutes later!!! What a LOVELY experience that was....SOMEDAY I will tell Grant this story and be laughing about it instead of being grosed out! LOL
While we are on the subject of CHOMPERS....Look at the chompers on the ADORABLE towel my friends Brittany sent Grant for his birthday!! I think he's the cutest dinosaur I've ever seen!!! Thanks Greyson!

Saturday was a big day....After the exhaustion of being a cheerleader, Emma got her first BIG GIRL haircut!! She has had a couple of trims, but this is the first haircut and I LOVE IT!! I will admit...after the first few snips of the scissors, she already looked so much older and my heart broke, but just a little! Emma loves it too...she tells everyone she sees about her new haircut and this morning she asked me "Mommy, is my hair beautiful like yours?" Soooo sweet!

Saturday we made a trip over to the Panther Stadium to watch Emma's cousin Hayley cheer for the Pee Wee football team. Emma wasn't exactly in MC (Magnet Cove)colors, but they allowed her to go down on the track and cheer in her Razorback colors! LOL I must admit, it was a little surreal seeing my pretty little girl down there cheering (she tried anyway) on the same track I used to cheer on not long ago!! She had a blast with Hayley and the other girls and said she wanted to do it again!

Our family had the pleasure of attending Miss Kennadi's 2nd Birthday party a couple weekends ago at a local park. The theme was Minnie Mouse, and what MM party would be complete without EARS...Jill made the adorable ears and Grant even had his own set of Mickey ears!! The cupcakes were quite yummy and extra cute with the Minnie picks! We had a great time and enjoyed seeing a lot of familiar faces. Well, after 3 days and 2 nights at my mom's, we are FINALLY home!! Gustav was not very kind and decided to dump tons of rain our way....this left our road about 5 inches under water with no way out!!! If that wasn't enough...we were stuck here without electricity (only for a day, but with 2 kids that long enough!!). When the water finally went down enough (it was still up to the door on my Tahoe) I loaded up the kids and half the house and headed for mom's! Clint came a little later b/c he was trying to let the generator run as long as possible so our food in the fridge/freezer wouldn't ruin. Being at my mom's is like being at home...the kids love it there, mom cooked dinner, and even gave Clint and I her bed for 2 nights while she slept on the couch with Emma. BUT, since mom works at home now, I was constantly worried that Emma was in her way or bothering her AND it's no fun living out of a suitcase!! I decided to call my house this morning on the way to drop Emma off at school, and to my surprise the answering machine picked up!! I called Clint, who then called our neighbor, and they said it has just come back on about 30 minutes before. I decided to come home and try to clean up the mess we left behind on Wed. before I went back to mom's to get all the stuff we toted over there. We are finally home and as the saying goes....THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE HOME!!!

Thanks mom for allowing us to invade your space...you're the best NaNa!!

I am still trying to adjust to the fact that Grant is 1 already...it went by SOOO fast! He had a great birthday party although he had no clue what was going on..he was just smiling at everyone and soaked up all the attention! It was such a big moment when everyone sang Happy Birthday to my little guy (again, he had no clue what was going on) and I fought the tears until I couldn't anymore and then the waterworks started..it was such a special moment and of course I was thinking of the day he was born! He LOVED his duckie cake and was enjoying every bite...UNTIL mean mommy came along and took it away...the picture says exactly what he thought about that! LOL He recieved so many nice presents...i'm still trying to find a place for everything! I am SOOO thankful for all my friends and family...Thank you so much for sharing in Grant's special day and making his day especially "ducky"!! I tried my hardest to get some pictures of all the kids, but I just couldn't get them to sit still long enough!LOL

Grant,
I can't believe it's already been a whole year since you surprised us and made your early appearance!! You were born on August 14th, 2007, 2 months early, weighing 2 lbs 11 ounces and were 14 3/4 inches long! I remember the first time I saw you...you were ever so tiny and I wanted to scoop you up in my arms and hold you but that moment would have to wait a few weeks!! From the start you amazed me and so many others, including the nurses and doctors, with your fighting spirit...you were SO small but SO strong!!! We did have a few scary moments, but you improved almost every day and before I knew it (although it felt like YEARS to me) 2 weeks had passed and you were FINALLY in my arms!! From then on it was just a waiting game...waiting for you to gain weight, waiting for you to eat from a bottle instead of that yucky tube they had in your nose and waiting for that day we could finally bring you home!! FINALLY on September 26th, 44 days after you were born, we brought you home!! Daddy and I weren't the only ones who had waited so patiently for this day...your Big Sister Emma was so excited that her "baby brover" got to come home too!! She had only seen you in pictures and got to meet you 1 time while you were in the hospital...she talked about you all the time and was so excited when we told her you were coming home to see her! Our family felt so much more complete having you home where we could gaze at you for hours if we wanted to! LOL One word that comes into my mind this morning is THANKFUL...Daddy and I feel so thankful that God was watching over you and has allowed us to be your parents!! We (and MANY others)prayed everyday for you and for God to take care of you!! I am also very thankful for your health...the doctor's have told us several times how amazed they are by your progress and the fact that you haven't been sick..not one time!! That isn't real common with preemies and they usually see the doctors and visit hospitals several times with complications, but I know God has his hand in it and has kept you healthy!

You have brought so much joy and happiness into our lives and many others!! You just melt my heart with your big blue eyes and that sweet smile that seems to light up a room instantly! Daddy, sissy and I love you SOOOO much and are so blessed to have you as part of our family!! I look forward to watching you reach all your milestones and grow up to be a healthy little boy!! You will ALWAYS hold a special place in my heart and will always be my little "miracle man"!!

Well Grant FINALLY got his first tooth last week!! The poor kid has been chewing and drooling on everything for like 3 months now..I knew it had to be soon! His first tooth is his top right/midlde which was strange to me because the bottoms usually come in first! I guess every child is different though. Since then, 2 more are making there appearance...the other top middle tooth and one on the bottom...my poor guy! Sorry for the nostril pics.....it was the only way to get a shot of his toofers! LOL

Desperate Housewives....Reunited

This past weekend was such a refresher for me...Meredith, Jill and I loaded up in Mere's van on Friday and headed to Memphis where we met up with Brittany. Meredith, being the talented person she is, put together a "Desperate Housewives Roadtrip Mix" for us to listen to...it was full of some new must have songs and some "old school" songs. I must say....it's amazing that we can still sing some of those old songs word for word!!! We were jammin' and even got a few stares along the way! LOL The drive was uneventful UNTIL we hit the Memphis bridge and the bottom of the sky fell out....not cool when we are trying to find our way to the hotel in unfamiliar territory!! After dodging crazy drivers and a few calls to Britt..we finally made it! Then, we met up with Britt for a little shopping and we got to meet Grey...he's such a little cutie!! We did some fun shopping and then we all went back and got "spruced up" for a fun "Momma's only" night out where we went to a fabulous restraunt called Bahama Breeze. We sat at that table and laughed so hard talking about the "old" days...I haven't laughed that hard in a long time!! We made a run to Target (where I started getting blisters on the heel of my foot and a cashier gave me some awesome DIEGO band-aids that I sported around the rest of the evening!)and looked around a little. We were having such a good time that we weren't quite ready to go back to the hotel, so we went to Cozumel's and had a drink where we AGAIN had some good laughs. We finally decided we better get in bed if we wanted to shop till we dropped the next day. The next morning we met up with Britt and she took us to some really nice shopping places...we were shopped out and headed home around 3:30. It was so nice to have that time together and we have all agreed that this is something we want to do AT LEAST once a year if not twice!!! Thanks girls for such a wonderful time...I can't wait until the next trip!!!

All Aboard Graham's Birthday Express....

Our family traveled to Little Rock yesterday for Graham's 4th Birthday!! We had a great time and as usual, everything was FANTASTIC!!! The kids played a few fun games and Meredith read a cute Thomas The Train book for storytime. Emma was in rare form...she wasn't acting ugly or anything, just clung to her daddy's leg most of the time!! Really weird because she is usually my social butterfly and loves playing games...oh well, she told me later "the party was great mom" so I guess she had fun! LOL I think Graham will remember his Thomas The Train party that his mom made extra special for him for a long time!!!! At the end of the party he handed out the goody bags and thanked each kid individually for coming to his party...I thought that was really sweet!! Graham-Thanks for allowing us to be a part of your special day!! We love you!!!!

I am SOOOO happy to report that Grant passed his hearing test today!!! I can't tell you how relieved I am to FINALLY have that behind us! He was such a trooper and was flirting with all the ladies! LOL He will still need to go back for a check up in 6 months, but that's just to check the tubes in his ears. As we were leaving, the Dr. asked me if he was having any other problems or if he had been sick at all since he was born and I told him NO without hesitation....he then said "Do you know how lucky you are?" My response "Very much so...he's my little miracle!!!" I told him that I've had several Dr's ask me the same question and he said that's b/c most preemies are in and out of the hospital or Dr's office on a regular basis. This again proves he really is our "little miracle" Thanks for your prayers and Thank you God for taking care of my precious baby boy!!

Grant has an appt. at Children's Hospital tomorrow for ANOTHER hearing test. They are peforming a "booth test"...basically he sits in my lap facing forward and they produce sounds and talk to him at different pitches and watch for his response. I am praying that he passes, if not, the next step is a sedated test and i'm not thrilled AT ALL with that idea!!! I am really trying to be positive about this, but it's a little frustrating when I KNOW he can hear, yet he's not passing the tests!! Please say a little prayer for my lil' man....and mommy's patience!! LOL

Well I had a little fun taking pictures of the kids the other day! Emma is such a princess these days and all about playing dress up, so she put on her FABULOUS TuTu made by her "Aunt Mere" and I got some really cute pictures! Grant LOVES bathtime...and what is bathtime without rubber ducky?!! He likes to chew on the heads! LOL On another note...I REALLY have this "nagging feeling" to give photography a shot!!! I have been thinking a lot lately about what I want to do with my life... I would love to take some photography classes and start doing some photography on the side. I feel like this would give me a chance to do something I love and still be free to spend time with the kids! I have been talking about this for a few years now and the feeling just isn't going away...doesn't that mean something?? I am about to purchase my first "real" camera and I'm SOOO excited!!! Hopefully I will have it before Grant's b-day party so I can have some fun with it!!

Celebrating 4th of July...

We had a great 4th this year...it's always a fun time to get together with family and eat yummy food!! We always have a HUGE fireworks display...thanks to my famly that is originally from California (you can't shoot you own fireworks in CA). Since the moved here a few years ago...they go crazy buying fireworks on the 4th and New years. It makes me feel like a kid again...we Ooooh and Aawww at how pretty they are! Emma likes them too, but she despises the really loud ear piercing ones! LOL Grant didn't seem to be bothered by the loud noise a bit....he was SOUND ASLEEP!

Last weekend Emma went to two birthday parties for 2 of her very special friends!! Let's just say it was a weekend full of fun and she loved every minute of it! Thanks to both girls for inviting us to be a part of your special day!

Ella's 3rd birthday party was at a fun little place called Gymboree!! There was lots of fun things for the kids to do and Emma even got to meet a "parachute monster" LOL

Halle's 6th birthday was at Central Lanes Bowling! It was lots of fun and Emma tells everyone that she "got a big ball out of the cave and rolled it really fast!" LOL She is too funny!

Brickfest Fun!!

It's amazing that such a small town like Malvern,AR can actually been known for something worldwide, but it's true....The Brick Capitol of the World!! Last weekend was the annual Brickfest in town and I decided to take the kids since it was something I enjoyed going to as a kid! Of course, my favorite part is the ever so greasy food that is a HUGE no no!! LOL We enjoyed some nachos and fried pickles along with fresh lemonade..Yummy! My Aunt, cousin and her daughter Hayley joined us for some short-lived fun (it was sooo hot that we only stayed about 1.5 hrs..plenty for me anyway!!) and the kids took a ride on the "train". Of course Emma wanted to play on EVERYTHING, but I finally convinced her to leave by reminding her of the fun evening we already had planned....a birthday party!!!!

My sweet daughter has consumed PLENTY of ice cream in her life, but she had never been to an "ice cream shop" as she calls it, where she could sample it and pick out her very own...I know, I'm a horrible mom! LOL Last week we took a trip to Baskin Robbins and her face just lit up when she saw all that ice cream!! She sampled SEVERAL flavors and finally decided on cotton candy, while mommy and Grant shared some chocolate fudge brownie (i think that's what it was)!! She absolutely loved the
"little spoon" and refused to eat her tasty treat with anything else! I expect we will be making more trips to the ice cream shop in the near future...she knows exactly where it is now and informs me EVERY TIME we drive by!! LOL

That was THEN.....

I'm not sure where to start....my heart is deeply saddened and I'm so thankful at the same time. In the past two days I have heard of 2 families that have lost precious babies due to prematurity. One family I know (their son passed away after 7 weeks of fighting for his life), the other family I don't (their baby passed after 1 day)...either way my heart is breaking for them right now!! It is sad when a child is taken to soon for ANY reason, but I guess for me, these particular situations just hit close to home. I know God has a purpose for everything/everyone and we aren't supposed to question him or ask "why", but it's times like these that my mind tends to wonder..."Why was my son allowed to live and another precious child didn't?", "Why am I holding my son when another family has to bury theirs?" It is truly overwhelming to think that we were faced with the same possibility less than a year ago, but we were spared that heart wrenching experience because God chose to shelter Grant and allow him to be part of our family!!! THANK YOU GOD!!!

Tuckered Out Tuesday....

WHEW....what a fun and exhausting day yesterday was!! Here is a rundown of what happened around our house yesterday...We had a wonderful breakfast of Barbie cereal (I ate some too...yummy marshmallows!), then we played dress up and I was informed I had to play too, so I put on my best sparkly shirt with a skirt and high heels!! (sorry, no pic of that beautiful ensemble! LOL) After that we played SEVERAL games of hopscotch and Grant was looking at us like we were crazy..too funny! Next, we did some art projects where Emma painted several pictures and made the beautiful crown with her name on it that you see her wearing in the picture..she was quite proud of that! Then it was off to a scrumptious lunch of chicken nuggets and mac-n-cheese..YUMMY! FINALLY, it was time for a much needed 1.5 hr nap (both kiddos!) and mommy needed some QUIET TIME..(A.K.A. computer time LOL) Last but not least...we ended our fun-filled day with some splashing around in the pool!! I have to admit, once I got over the shock of the cold water, it felt quite nice!! Grant enjoyed being outside in his bouncy seat and playing with the dogs!! It was a fun day...but like the title says, we were all TUCKERED OUT at the end of the day!! The very first pic is from this morning..Emma was STILL sleeping at 9am, that's how tired she was!! It's days like these that remind me how grateful I am to be a SAHM (stay at home mom), and share these times with my kids!!

A little less than 4 years ago, I had no idea what it would be like to have children of my own. I always knew I wanted to be a mom, but didn't realize how blessed I would be to have not one, but two precious kids!! Watching them grow up together (even though Grant has only been around for 10 months) has been so amazing! Now that Grant can sit on his own, Emma loves to get in the floor and play with him and show him how all his toys work. However, sometimes Emma "thinks" she's a little bigger than what she is..SURPRISE, SURPRISE...the other day I was getting Grant's bath ready and came into the living room to find Emma had picked him up out of his bouncy seat and was attempting to carry him!! YIKES!! She immediately knew she had done something wrong and got this pitiful pouty look on her face...I told her she wasn't in trouble this time, but explained that she is NEVER to pick him up again unless mommy or daddy are there to help!!!! Her response, "But I'm a big girl now mommy and I know I can do it"...poor thing, we are ALWAYS telling her what a big girl she is getting to be and now she thinks she's invincible!! LOL Anywho...just thought I would share a few pics of my "babies" spending time together!!
BTW....the giraffe quilt they are playing on in a couple of the pictures was MY baby blanket that my precious grandma made for me..it's hard to believe that next month will mark a year since she passed! I miss her VERY much and hate that she didn't get to meet my precious baby boy, BUT I am so thankful she had lots of time with Emma!! When Emma sees a picture of her, she says that she is "In heaven with the sleeping grandma" (Clint's g'ma passed not to long after mine) and I think that is just precious!

This is the sweetest word to any mother's ears!!! Grant's first official word is "MaMa" which just so happened to be his big sister's first word too! I wonder how that happened?? LOL It just melts my heart to hear him say it, especially if he is fussy or wants me to pick him up, because I know he's saying it to get my attention!! I sure do love this little guy and can't believe it's almost been a year since he entered our lives!!

Grant's 9 month checkup...

Grant went for his 9 month checkup today and I am happy to report all is well!!! His pedi was VERY pleased with his development (sitting, clapping, babbling etc..) and kept telling me how perfect he was! He is still behind in weight and height, which is to be expected with a preemie, but she was also pleased with his growth from last appt!! He weighed in at 15lbs 12oz and was 26 & 1/8 inches long. He also had to get his foot pricked today to check his CBC level (hence the cute yellow band-aid)...it was fine, but he didn't like the nurse squeezing on his foot one bit!!! Can't say I blame him! His pedi also told me that I should feel very blessed that he hasn't been sick...she couldn't believe he made it through the winter without getting sick! She expressed to me that most preemies visit the Dr. quite frequently in the first several months due to sickness or complications and that she couldn't be more pleased with Grant's health! My heart just fluttered because I know how truly blessed we have been from the moment Grant was born...he has been such a trooper and I thank God for his health!!!

I FINALLY got to meet Kate today and she is SOOOO precious just like I knew she would be!!! She was so tiny and sweet and I loved listening to all the cute little squeaks she made. Lindsey looks great and seems to be doing well despite the lack of sleep! LOL Ana is very proud of her baby sister and informed me that she's a "Big sister now just like Emma!" It was a nice visit and I even got to enjoy a piece of yummy birthday cake.....HAPPY BIRTHDAY LINDSEY and congratulations on your sweet little bundle!!

BTW.....I was loading these pics on the computer and Emma happened to walk by...this is what happened! (Emma)"Who's that baby mommy??" (me)"Ummm..that's Ana's new baby sister..isn't she sweet?!" Saturday, we had some much needed family time at the zoo before Clint had to leave for Dallas again yesterday. With the exception of the awful heat, we had a fun time and enjoyed spending the day together. Emma has been to the zoo a couple of times but I think this is the first time she REALLY noticed every animal. I think she is going to be an animal lover like me because everything was "so cute" and "awww..their precious"!! The monkeys were her favorite by far! There was a new baby monkey that was playing with it's mommy and she was so facinated by that...she's been talking about those monkeys non-stop! LOL On the other hand, Grant seemed to be facinated by the fish that were flopping around like crazy to get the fish food! LOL

Our actual anniversary was on May 25th, but things have been a little hectic lately, so we celebrated last night. My mom watched the kids and we went out for a wonderful dinner at Olive Garden. Speaking of..I have a little funny story...It has probably been at least 3 yrs since I have been to an Olive Garden b/c the closest one was in Little Rock and now we have one in Hot Springs. Well, I already knew what I wanted so I was looking at the menu for it....all I saw was like 6 items to choose from and Clint and I just looked at eachother a little puzzled!! LOL The other menu they handed us looked like it was only for specialty drinks, wine, etc.. I said "I know it has been a while, but surely they haven't downsized to 6 whole items to choose from" LOL I ask the waitress about the Chicken Parmesan I was sooooo craving and she points right to it.....turns out the "drink menu" was only part of it and the rest was food. I told Clint she probably thought we were backwoods people who had never been out to eat before!! LOL Anyway....it made for a great laugh and as usual, it was so nice to just talk to my husband without any interruptions and just enjoy being "us"!! Happy Anniversary Clint....I look forward to many more years together!!

Landscaper's Challenge....Before and After

After years of neglect, my poor yard FINALLY got some much needed TLC!!! It's nothing fancy, but brings a lot of life to the house. I have been intending to do this for quite some time (since we moved in 6 yrs ago!) and Spring and Summer pass by every year without it getting done! While Clint was out of town last week, my dad and brother (AKA "Hunka Brian" as Emma calls him) came over and worked all day to get this project done and I think they did a great job! I can't wait until next Spring to see how big my shrubs have grown and what they will look like in full bloom! Now I just have to get all my plants and flowers out on the porch and it should be a done deal! Thanks Dad and Bro for your hard work!!!

These days Emma keeps me in constant laughter/tears with things she says! It's amazing how she can make my mood do a complete turn around with on of her "simple expressions."

Emma is having a little separation anxiety problem these days when it comes to going to school..only when I drop her off and when i'm out of sight she's fine. Well yesterday we were pulling up to school and she started crying, so I told her it was okay, that she would have fun with her friends and her teachers were very nice and loved her! Her response was "But they don't love me like you do mommy"...talk about rip your heart out!!! Let's just say it was very hard for me to walk her in there after that, but she was fine and had a great day!

Also from yesterday...I picked her up from school and as we were driving home she was telling me what she had learned.... She informed me that Red=Stop, Green=Go and Yellow=HONK HONK HONK..pretty cute. This is the killer.....they say prayer each day before eating lunch and I have asked her several times how it goes and she always says "I can't bemember (remember)" It's the simple prayer we all know...."God is great, God is good, let us thank him for our food, Amen" Well yesterday she finally remembered and this was her version... "God is great, God is good, please don't take our food, Amen"!!!! I literally almost peed my pants I was laughing so hard and asked her to say it again to make sure I heard her right, and I did!

Another funny that comes to mind is from the Backyardigans....There is a song one of them sings and the chorus says "I want my river bath" and Emma sings it like this.."I want my Razorbacks" LOL She really thinks that's how it goes and always says "Harkansas Razorbacks" at the end!

I could go on forever! That's my silly little girl..

Well today Emma reached another milestone....her first day of "school!" Today was her first day at Lots O' Tots daycare (Jill's mom owns it) and she LOVED it! She will be going 2 days a week and I think this will be good for me and her. When I went inside and dropped her off this morning, she walked right in and said "Good Morning Mrs. Cindy" like she had known her forever. Then she sat down and had a snack while I was filling out paperwork...next thing I know she had her chair pulled right next to this little girl and started talking away. My little girl doesn't have a shy bone in her body (wonder where she got that from? LOL) and made friends within the first 5 minutes!!! I told her I was leaving now and she gave me a hug and kiss and said "Bye mommy..see ya later" and off she went. She was on the playground when I picked her up and she was yelling "HEY that's my mommy" The teachers told me she was very good and she kept them laughing all day with her funny little sayings...that made me feel good!!! On the way home she preceeded to tell me "I'm a big girl now and I go to school"...pretty cute! She is in her room watching T.V. now and is looking very relaxed...I have a feeling she will be in bed early after her long day.....

Well it seems like this has become an afternoon ritual and I must say it is the sweetest thing!!! Every day after Emma's nap, she pics out a movie or finds something on T.V. and pulls her chair right next to Grant and they watch it together. Sometimes they even hold hands for a few minutes and Emma talks to Grant about her favorite parts of the movie. I can't help but just sit and watch sometimes...I am so in love with my babies!!!

We had a very nice and HECTIC (as usual) easter this year! Emma was surprised to see that the Easter bunny filled her basket with all kinds of goodies, her favorite being her new Max and Ruby DVD...you can tell from the pic she was very excited about that! We rushed around getting ready for church where we met quite a bit of my family. Then went to my Aunt's house for some yummy food and ANOTHER egg hunt for the girls. Later, I packed up my crew and we headed to Clint's parents where we ate AGAIN and Emma and Grant got more easter goodies! Rediculous....it was like Christmas all over again! LOL We all crashed that night and I don't think anyone made a peep until after 8 the next morning!

Emma was so excited for Easter to get here....this is the first year we have dyed eggs and she was beside herself!! EVERY color was "Beautiful mommy" and the eggs were "Amazin' mommy"!! LOL It was really cute! She cried b/c she wanted to take one to bed with her that night and we FINALLY convinced her to take a plastic one instead! We also went to an egg hunt at some of my families house and had a great time. Emma was running as fast as she could to collect as many eggs as possible....she even got the DORA EGG!!! When I was tucking her in that night, she took a deep breathe and said "Mommy...it was a great day!" I thought so too....

I just had to do this post because eventhough Grant is only a baby and Emma is 3, I already see this awesome bond forming!!! They just look at eachother and their faces light up. Emma has been such a great big sister and is already becoming quite protective of Grant....we went to the bank today, and a lady she had never met before came up and started talking to him...she then put both hands on her hips and said "HEY" with this frown on her face!! LOL I told her it was fine and she wanted to meet baby brother too and Emma said "Oh, okay." I feel so blessed to have these 2 healthy children and look forward to watching them grow up together! I know how it is to have a "baby brother" and I thank God for Brian everyday!!! We have always had this unbreakable bond and although we are at different stages in our lives and don't talk as much as we used to, he still holds a special place in my heart! I pray that Emma and Grant will have the same relationship we did!!

Well Fiday night my mom kept BOTH of the kiddos and Clint and I went to eat at Outback Steakhouse for Valentines Day and had such a nice time! I can't remember the last time we actually sat next to eachother in a restaurant and had adult convo!! We just talked and laughed and ended up staying there for like 2 hrs. I know it sounds funny, but I even got little butterflies in my tummy and felt all gitty just sitting next to him with his arm around me! Guess that's a good sign that i'm still head-over-hills in love with my hubby!! I love my children VERY MUCH, but I have to admit that I didn't even think about them once during that time....of course it helped knowing they were having a blast and being spoiled at my mom's!! Thanks mom for watching the kids and allowing us to have a wonderful evening!

I can't believe Grant is 6 months already!! He is such a happy little guy as long as he is fed and when he's hungry, HE'S HUNGRY!!! LOL I started looking through some pictures this morning from when he was born and just broke down at the computer....not because I was sad, but SO THANKFUL!!! It's amazing to see how far he has come and what a blessing he is to have in our family. In the past 2 weeks I have heard of 2 preemies that have passed away, one was born at the same gestation as Grant and the other quite a bit earlier. My heart goes out to those families and I couldn't help but squeeze my little man a little tighter and smother him with kisses. It's hard for me not to think "that could have been us", but then I remember how great God is and how he allowed our son to live and I should never take that for granted. He is and always will be our "miracle man"!!!!

Emma's 3rd Birthday!!!!

Emma had a great birthday yesterday and hasn't stopped talking about it yet!! LOL All of her friends came to share her special day and she was so excited!!! We had it in a huge lounge type room at our church, which turned out to be perfect!!! We had pizza and cheese snacks... Minnie Mouse's favorite!!! The cake turned out great and tasted so yummy....unfortunately it had to come home and I can't keep my hands out of it!! LOL She got some many nice presents and a couple VERY SPECIAL gifts! One was a special tutu made by my best friend Meredith (aka "Aunt Mere"), which was absolutely beautiful!! I can't wait get Emma's picture taken in it! Another, was this awesome book from my friend Lindsey....it was called "Emma Kate"!! How awesome is that! At first, I thought she just had the cover made with her name on it.....I never imagined it was the actual title of a book! I enjoyed visiting with all of my girlfriends in between the chaos.....I have been blessed with so many great friends and will cherish those friendships FOREVER!!! It was a wonderful party that i'll always remember....hopefully Emma will too!!!!

Well, my best-friend in the whole world has recently taken on a big challenge.......to lose weight and exercise! I think most of us, overweight or fit, want to lead a healthy lifestyle but lack the motivation!!! She has been doing great and has definitely inspired and motivated me to take on that same challenge!!!!! I have been thinking about this for a while, but of course come up with some excuse not to get started. I got up at 6:30 this morning and decided not to make anymore excuses and did a 20 min workout on my eliptical!!!!! I feel so much better about myself already just knowing I took that first step......I have the equipment right here at home, so I have no excuse not to do it!!! Meredtih, thanks for inspiring me and keep up the good work sister!! I love ya!

It's hard to believe 5 months have passed already! Grant is doing so well and growing so fast....he's already busting out of some of his 0-3 month clothes!! Last Wed. he had tubes put in his ears and everything went well....hopefully this will help and he will pass the hearing screening next month. I am very anxious/curious to go for his 6 month checkup and see what his pedi. has to say about his development. So far, every doctor has said "he looks great, he definitely isn't the average preemie"!!! That always makes me feel good!! He absolutely LOVES Emma and has his eyes on her all the time! He gets so excited and kicks like a wild man every time she comes into the room....it's so sweet!!! I am very pleased to say that he has been sleeping through the night for about a month now and as long as he is dry and fed, he's a happy little guy!! He is still my miracle man!

It's so hard to believe that Emma is almost THREE already!!! I have to admit that I'm having a really tough time with this birthday......she's not a baby anymore and I know Kindergarten will be here before I know it!! At the same time I am enjoying her at this age ....we have interesting conversations and she just amazes me each day with all she is learning. She has taken on the roll of "Big Sister" quite well and to my delight, isn't a bit jealous!! She loves to help take care of Grant and recently mastered a bottle feeding.....even tried to burp him!! LOL She is doing very well with her manners and for the most part is a respectful little girl. She has also recently learned her bedtime prayers and now says them all by herself.....then serenades her daddy and I with a song EVERY NIGHT!!! I love it! That being said.....she still hasn't lost her "tude" and lets you know real quick if she doesn't like something!!!! Emma has been a strong-headed little girl from the start (most of you are quite aware of this..ha) and definitely knows her likes/dislikes!!! She can go from angel to hellion and back to angel in 0.3 seconds!!! LOL I am so thankful and feel very blessed to have her in my life! It has been a joyous 3 years with our little girl!! I look forward to many more! Okay......now I'm and emotional wreck after typing this! UGH......hormones!!

Well there are 10 minutes left in the 4th quarter and Arkansas is down 28-7 in the Cotton Bowl....Grrrr!!! My little cheerleader is still calling the hogs......she loves watching football!! She's playing with her baby dolls and every once in a while shouts "Go Hogs" or "Go..run fast" She's so funny! Grant is showing his support too in his new Razorback socks and beanie thanks to "Hunka Brian"! Sad that they lost, but I still like watching Razorback football!

Christmas 2007

Whew....Christmas was great this year, but I must say i'm glad it's over!!! It all started the week before Christmas at my granpa's with a fun family gathering. We played games, had some good food and exchanged gifts. We always spend Christmas Eve at Clint's parents house....I call his mom "Betty Crocker" because her cooking is wonderful! We enjoyed the famiy time and of course Emma had a blast opening presents! When we got home, we put cookies and milk out for Santa and it was time for bed!....I had the priviledge of staying up until 2 a.m. getting things ready for Christmas day!!! Emma is usually a late sleeper (8 or 9) , but I guess she was to excited and woke us up at 7 ready to go! The first thing she did was gasp and say "Mommy, Daddy, Santa ate it all!!" We had so much fun watching her face light up with every gift....everytime she opened one she said "This is great or I love it, Thank you!" She even helped baby brother open his presents! We went to my Aunts house with the rest of the family for lunch and then we went back to my moms for our family gift exchange and dinner. Emma had a great time playing with her new toys and "Hunka Brian"....that's really what she calls my brother!! So cute! Of course the kids got way to many presents and i'm still trying to find somewhere to fit everything!!!! It was a wonderful Christmas for our family and I look forward to making lots of memories in the years to come!

The Eisele crew came over to visit a couple of weeks ago and for the most part it was a nice visit for the kids and mommies. Graham and Emma COULDN'T WAIT to see eachother since it had been a while.....of course they were fighting within 5 minutes of being together!! LOL Kids will be kids I guess! For the first time EVER we had all 4 kids asleep at the same time, so Mere and I were able to catch up....for a whole 15 minutes! LOL It's so neat that we grew up together (since 6th grade anyway) and now both sets of children are close in age and will grow up as great friends too!!! Of course I had to take a few pictures....Enjoy!

I got a wonderful early Christmas present today.......a call from Grant's pediatrician letting me know that he doesn't have to wear that apnea monitor anymore!!!!!!!! That's right.....no more "wires attatched", or as I call it "his tail!" I can't tell you happy this makes me!!! Of course i'm glad that everything looked great from the download on the monitor, but equally glad to not have to lug that thing EVERYWHERE I GO!!! Just had to share the excitement!

We took Grant to the ENT doctor today for another checkup on his ears and he STILL has some fluid on them, which is causing him not to pass his hearing tests. The Dr. said this is VERY common among preemies not to be alarmed. Sooooo.....he is sched. to have tubes put in his ears on Jan. 8th. They said it was a very minor 10 minute procedure and he will go home the same day. I know it's for his own good, but he's already been through so much already that it breaks my heart for him! Please keep my lil' guy in your prayers!!

Last Saturday, Emma met one of her best friends Ana at a local church to have breakfast with Santa. The girls had a great time visiting with Santa and twirling around like ballerina's. Ana put in her request for a puppy so of course Emma thought she would ask for one too....we told Santa she already has 2 BIG puppies at home so she settled for a baby doll! LOL Santa was very patient through the MANY pictures being taken!

Emma had a blast riding in the X-mas parade last Thurs. My cousin works for a local investment company and they did a "Winter Wonderland" themed float complete with freezing kids! We went to USA Drug yesterday and got the kids picture made with Santa. The actual picture won't be ready for me to pick up until Monday, but I thought I would go ahead and post a few pictures of them in their cute outfits. Emma was SOOOOO excited to finally meet Santa and yelled out "Mommy look, it's SAAAANTA!!!" It was so cute and I know Christmas is going to be so much fun at our house this year. With Thanksgiving approaching quickly, I thought it would be neat to share what we are thankful for. We did this last night at bunko and all of us were in tears! Like I was telling them....It is so easy to get caught up in the "daily routine" and forget the little things in life that matter and how much we truly have to be thankful for!!!! That being said........this is what i'm thankful for.....

Having God in my life.....although he gives me "challenges" that I don't always understand, I know he is always there to guide me through them!!!

My family....I have been so blessed having Clint in my life! He is a wonderful husband, father and provider! Emma....she is my little princess who always brightens my day and makes me laugh with one of her silly sayings and can't melt my heart with the simple words "I love you mommy"!!! Grant...he hasn't been around long, but has touched my life in SO MANY ways!!! It's amazing to think that there was a time when I just watched him laying there in the hospital not sure if I would ever bring him home, and now i'm looking at a healthy little boy with a double chin who is almost 8 pounds!!!! God was definately watching over my "little miracle"!!!

My health- Although i'm still struggling with a few blood pressure issues, I am so thankful to have good health!!

I could go on and on, but these are just a few things that I am really thankful for!

I was going to skip it this year b/c of everything that has been going on, but people started asking me about it and I said "why not". Thank goodness we have acreage and a huge carport otherwise it wouldn't be possible! I really didn't get to mingle as much as usual b/c I was inside with little man, but everyone seemed to have a great time! I spent yesterday "trying" to re-cooperate (sp?), but that wasn't very successful since I had both kiddos by myself...my hubby escaped to go hunting. I'm still dragging today, but not as bad.....hopefully all will be back to normal by tomorrow. It was a great time.......just glad I have a whole year until the next one!

I "think" Emma is finally on her way to being potty trained! We have been working on this for about 8 months now and out of the blue she decided she was ready. I was getting so stressed out about it and of course everyone kept telling me not to push, that she would do it when SHE was ready......guess that is true! We have been in BIG girl panites for 3 days (except for naptime and bedtime) and she's only had 1 accident at her Grandma's. YAY....i'm trying not to get to excited, but I think she is actually ready now. Thanks for letting me share the exciting news!!

A Minnie Mouse!!! Emma had a blast TOT'ing this year!! We went downtown where all the stores on mainstreet were passing out candy....it was so cute because she went to each one and said "Trick or Treat, candy please" LOL Then we went to visit family....it was a fun time!!

A day at the Patch

Today was a fun family day (minus my poor hubby...working as usual) at the pumpkin patch. It was unlike any other I had been too.....they had a hayride, petting zoo, a puppet show and of course PUMPKINS. Emma had a blast running through the pumpkin maze and picking out her very own pumpkin to bring home. She also got to ride on the see-saw and tire swings....VERY exciting! Of course I had to take advantage of the photo opp. and shoot away....Grant got to wear his pumpkin shirt and hat with his cool pumpkin pants thanks to Aunt Mere! A few friends met us there...Jill hubby Brant and 2 daughters Halle & Kennadi, Lindsey, Ana and Becky (Ana's YaYa) and my mom. All in all it was a fun day!
